ANGEL LOCSIN is Angelica Colmenares in real life. She was born on April 23, 1985 in Santa Maria, Bulacan. Angel spent her elementary education in Bulacan and graduated high school in University of Santo Tomas High School.
Angel Locsin's entry to showbiz was unplanned. She was discovered by a talent scout while she was shopping at SM City North EDSA. Some sources said she was spotted by a talent scout while she was shopping with friends after they skipped classes.
Angel first auditioned in ABS-CBN's Star Circle Batch 9 but she was not signed due to some disagreements in her contract. She was then drafted by GMA Artist Center after a year and she started to appear in GMA's teen oriented show "Click". She was also included in the cast of "Ang Iibigin Ay Ikaw Pa Rin" and "All Together Now".
In 2003, Angel co-starred with Richard Gutierrez in the fantaserye "Mulawin" where she portrayed the character of Alwina. After "Mulawin", Angel Locsin was given her first major role in the remake of super heroin "Darna" of Mars Ravelo. Darna made waves in local TV. It is the first primetime program to reach a rating of 47.1% and recorded the highest rating by a GMA show for that year (2005) when it reached 52.1% in its fourth episode.
"Darna" put Angel to prominence. Due to the show's popularity, Angel wsa offered several Tv-Shows, movies, endorsements and big projects which catapulted Angel to where she is now.
After "Darna", Angel starred in two more Kapuso primetime shows namely "Majika" with Dennis Trillo and "Asian Treasures" with Robin Padilla. "Asian Treasures" is the last project of Angel in GMA-7 as she then transferred to ABS-CBN.
In AB-CBN, she first appeared in "Maalaala Mo Kaya: Pilat" with Sam Milby then her lead role in "Lobo" with Piolo Pascual. "Lobo" gained popularity nationwide and it also gained many Piolo Pascual - Angel Locsin followers.
After "Lobo", Angel Locsin was paired again with Sam Milby in the local remake of a koreanovela titled "Only You" which is a constant top rater in the nationwide survey. Angel's upcoming TV shows are "Himala" in 2009 and "Maria Mercedes" in 2010. "Maria Mercedes" is a local remake of a Maxicanovela of the same title which was originally topbilled by Thalia.
Angel Locsin's first movie appearance was "Ping Lacson: Supercop" where she played the role of the young Robina Gokongwei. It was followed by "Mano Po 2" and "Singles". Her next two movies were both official entries in the Metro Manila Film festival namely "Mano Po 3" and "Sigaw".
On of the notable movies of Angel was the film "Let The Love Begin" with Richard Gutierrez which grossed 122 million pesos in the box office. The movie was shoen while "Mulawin" was still very popular in television. Due to the success of "Mulawin" in TV, Angel and Richard reprised their role as Alwina and Aguiluz in "Mulawin: The Movie".
It was followed by "I Will Always Love You", "Txt", "Mano Po 5" and "The Promise" which marked her last movie in the Kapuso network.
With ABS-CBN, right after the success gained by "Lobo" Angel and Piolo starred in the movie "Love Me Again" which was shot in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon and in Darwin, Australia.
Due to Angel's ability in acting, she was awarded as Best Actress in her movies Sigaw, Mulawin: The Movie, Mano Po 5, Txt, Lobo and Best Single Performance by an Actress in Maalaala Mo Kaya: Pilat episode.
